Description
PREPARATION
Agwa from Bolivia is made from dried and macerated coca leaves, which are steam distilled to produce an alcoholic extract with the characteristics of the original plant. The juice-rich coca leaves are harvested by hand at 2000 m above sea level in the Andes, Bolivia. 100% of the primary alkaloid is removed. Cocaine-free coca leaves are macerated and distilled to produce alcohol, natural flavor and color. The distillate is blended with 36 botanicals, including: Chinese green tea, African mint, Amazonian guarana, Argentine black tea, ginseng, lavender and cucumber. The flavors are married before being approved by the master mixer and mixed with 5 parts distilled vodka, sugar, water and natural coloring.
TASTING
View: Almost fluorescent green light color.
Nose: Light nuance of musk aroma with elements of dried fruits.
Mouth: The flavor is bittersweet, originally sharp on the tongue, but quickly settling into spicy notes that linger. Overall, it is a mild extract with a bitter touch. The bitterness and sensation of raw pepper are the reasons why the coca leaf has always been associated with layers of dominant flavors.
