PREPARATION

Clansman Scotch Whiskey is made from a blend of Highland malt and grain whiskeys, giving it a red fruit and vanilla character with a touch of peat.
Clansman is a more modern blend than the date etched on its bottles would have you believe. Certainly, mixtures did not exist in 1814; Additionally, the date refers to the founding of the original Lochlomond distillery in Tarbet, about 20 miles from the current Loch Lomond distillery in Alexandria, built in 1966. Over the last 50 years or so, the Loch Lomond distillery has become one of the most versatile and extravagant production facilities in the Scotch whiskey industry. It produces a large number of styles of spirits, allowing the company to bottle a number of single malts, grain whiskeys and blended Scotch whiskeys, of which Clansman is one.
The new strategy and streamlined range comes after Loch Lomond was acquired by businessman Colin Matthews and private equity group Exponent in 2014.
