Glenmorangie The Tayne 1L. - Case
Glenmorangie The Tayne belongs to the collection “The Legends collection”, dedicated to the historical legends of the distillery's lands, this edition pays tribute to 1583, when the Spanish Armada skirted Scotland. Legend claims that one of the Spanish galleons sank in Thain Bay (now Dornoch Bay), not far from the distillery and some of the surviving sailors decided to stay in Scotland forever. This whiskey captures this history and is something of a Spanish treasure, for which it is aged in carefully selected Amontillado sherry casks, a finish rarely seen in the world of whiskey. It is excellent as a digestive with ice. Awards and recognitions:

PREPARATION
The Glenmorangie The Tayne whiskey is finished in Spanish barrels that have contained Amontillado Sherry. This exposure gives it subtle "Spanish" nuances, unfolding with an unusual floral aroma and a taste with shades of ripe southern fruits.
Glenmorangie has been making single malt whiskey since 1843, when farmer William Matheson and his wife Anne followed their dreams and founded their distillery. The copper stills in which they distill their spirit feature necks as high as a giraffe, creating more space for flavor and aroma. Its water is unusually rich in minerals, to help make the whiskey taste so wonderfully fruity. To keep this water pure, they own and protect the entire forest surrounding its source, the Tarlogie Spring. And they use the best barrels to age their spirit, sourced from all over, often even customized to your specifications to create a distinctive flavor profile.
TASTING
View:
Deep gold color.
Nose:
Quite sweet and floral aroma, marked by the classic Glenmorangie character of peaches, red apples and toffee. Hints of vanilla and raisins, as well as notes of fresh oak chips and walnuts, cashews and almonds with a slight toasted edge.
Mouth:
Medium body, with notes of sweetness and the typical acidic nature of an Amontillado. Notes of walnuts and chestnuts, including some smoky bitterness and spicy citrus, like Seville oranges. Quite long and spicy finish with a drier note at the end.
