Krug Clos du Mesnil 2006 75cl. - Case

The Krug Clos du Mesnil Champagne represents the purity of a single plot of single-year Chardonnay, with a consistently distinctive and beautiful expression. The unique location of this small vineyard, protected by houses, as well as the precision with which it is harvested at the optimal time are what allow us to capture the freshness and lacy length characteristic of Krug Clos du Mesnil in very special years. Pairs wonderfully with fish or seafood dishes such as fillet of sole in a saffron sauce, zander with beurre blanc, grilled scallops or tuna carpaccio. It can also be enjoyed with delicately flavored meat dishes such as blanette de veau. Presentation: Bottle with wooden case.

Description

PREPARATION

Grapes: Chardonnay.

Krug Clos du Mesnil is a very rare Champagne, showing the unique character of a single plot of Chardonnay, harvested in a single year. This 1.84 hectare vineyard dominated by the village church has been protected by walls since 1698. The vineyard is located in the heart of Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of the most iconic Chardonnay villages in the Champagne region. In 1979, the Krug brothers decided to make a Champagne created exclusively from grapes from this Clos and from this single year. Krug Clos du Mesnil 1979 was born at a time when conventions in Champagne focused on blending multiple wines from varied plots. Clos du Mesnil de Krug offers a Champagne of exceptional beauty and poise, which tells the story of the grapes of this plot, only in very special years.

TASTING

View: Intense golden color with a vibrant luminosity.

Nose: Aroma of ripe wheat with delicate notes of citrus, barley, sugar and nuts with balance and freshness.

Mouth: In the mouth it is generous and round with beautiful intensity. The first touches of brioche give way to notes of pastries, tarte tatin, lemon meringue, bitter orange and a little spice. The finish is long, with a lot of tension and notes of candied ginger.

Recommended temperature: 9-12º C.
