Description
PREPARATION
Grapes: 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The grapes used to make Balbás 18M Crianza red wine come from the La Calleja, Barroso and La Trinitaria estates, with vineyards that are more than 35 years old. The soils are poor, sandy and gravelly, mixed with some clay, terroirs that define the typicality of the wines made in Balbás. The harvest was carried out by hand waiting for the optimal ripening of each estate. No more than 2 hours passed since the cluster was separated from the vine, to avoid any oxidation of the grapes before entering the winery. Fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks using only the indigenous yeast of the grape. The aging period for this wine is 18 months in French oak barrels and 12 months in the bottle. The history of Bodegas Balbás goes back more than two hundred years in the Burgos town of La Horra. Today it is one of the great references in the Ribera del Duero Designation of Origin.
TASTING
View: Cherry red color with violet tones.
Nose: Powerful on the nose, with subtle and pleasant vanilla aromas. Important presence of mineralized red fruit that reminds us of its terroir.
Mouth: Powerful and meaty flavor. Silky, with a soft passage that runs through the palate, leaving a long and, above all, very elegant finish.
